“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”
― Eleanor Roosevelt
It is good to occasionally take a day off. Our bodies, minds, and soul require rejuvenation and replenishment just like other living things in our world. So, I decided to take my 10-year-old daughter to San Francisco for an overnight (exciting!) stay and day of adventure in the city.
San Francisco has some beautiful architecture throughout the city. I love the contrast between the black and white contemporary paint to the traditional form of the building next to it.
What is the point of taking a day off if you don’t do something fun? While in the city my daughter and I had great adventures. We walked to Hayes Valley (incredible neighborhood) and went through a street fair, had fantastic Chicago pizza at Patxi’s, incredible freshly made ice cream at Smitten Ice Cream, and this is after watching 3 incredible performances by the San Francisco Ballet Company.
It has taken several years to realize life IS an adventure. It is my responsibility to grab ahold of it and enjoy life for what it has to offer. When you are looking at piles of laundry, filing, unnecessary tasks that clog up your day and mind — start thinking about an adventure you’d like to take.
Start planning, even if it is small (San Francisco is only an 1 1/2 away from my home so it was an easy trip to plan, fit into our schedules, and take). You deserve to take a little time to refresh yourself and experience life.
What are you waiting for? Grab a pen and paper (or your laptop and the internet) and start planning. Happy trails!
